The Bookkeeper will manage daily accounting operations, maintain financial records, and ensure accuracy in all financial transactions. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Operating Officer and is essential for maintaining the financial health of our business while adhering to legal industry compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Categorize all transactions in QuickBooks and balance the balance sheet 
  • Categorize and reconcile revenue by sorting information from LawPay, Invoiced, Filevine, internal tracking, and QuickBooks 
  • Accurately track and differentiate between three business entities 
  • Make payments to vendors and manage accounts payable transactions 
  • Conduct monthly audits of all expenses and revenue 
  • Maintain organized digital and physical financial records 
  • Ensure the accuracy of data from Invoiced and QuickBooks into PowerBI and Domo 
  • Report cash flow forecasts weekly 
  • Assist with managing our IOLTA account 
  • Develop and implement financial best practices 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports 
  • Ensure compliance with legal accounting requirements and ethics rules 
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the financial health of the firm

 

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and forecasting 
  • Bachelor's degree in bookkeeping, accounting, or other financial degree 
  • Strong understanding of trust accounting principles 
  • Proficiency with general accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) 
  • Knowledge of IOLTA account management 
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information 
  • Bilingual fluency (English and Spanish) preferred 
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative environment  

 

Compensation & Benefits

$50-$60K annually DOE

 

Schedule

Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

Hybrid schedule between working from home and office (Glendale, AZ)

Virtual Bookkeeper

Part-Time Bookkeeper – 10 to 20 hours per week

Rate: $30 - $45/hour

With a team of experienced bookkeepers, we offer accurate, reliable, and timely financial record-keeping services tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

Position Overview: As a Bookkeeper at Hickerson Accounting Services, PLLC you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive bookkeeping services to our clients. You will be responsible for preparing bookkeeping and ensuring accuracy. Additionally, you will be tasked with reviewing the work prepared by other team members within the firm. Experience in law firm bookkeeping is highly desirable for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform bookkeeping services for clients, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll entries, and general ledger maintenance in QuickBooks Online.

2. Generate accurate monthly financial reports, including income statements, cash flow statements, and balance sheets using QuickBooks Online. 

3. Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with client requirements and industry standards.

4. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

5. Maintain organized and detailed financial records for clients, adhering to best practices and confidentiality requirements.

6. Collaborate with internal team members to address any inquiries or concerns related to financial matters.

7. Review work prepared by other bookkeeping team members for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm standards.

8. Prepare Form 1099’s using QuickBooks and Tax1099 software, including determination of required filings.

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience in bookkeeping, with a strong understanding of full-cycle accounting processes.

2. Knowledge of basic accounting principles including accrual basis of accounting.

3. Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software.

4. Experience in legal firm bookkeeping is a plus.

5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial analysis.

6. Strong understanding of accounting preferred with the ability to identify discrepancies, determine corrections needed, and communicate and/or post corrections to accounting records.

7. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

9. Professional certification (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) is a plus.
